Horry County Summer Orchestra Camps
Following a very successful summer camp last year, the Horry County
School of Music will offer Orchestra Summer Camps for July 16 – 27,
2018. The Horry County School of Music, a new non-profit organization,
is a countywide, ensemble-based experience designed to foster and
promote Horry County School instrumental music programs, and is
dedicated to providing the highest levels of performance and
educational opportunities for our local instrumental music students.
Since the opening of the music school last summer, they have served
over 150 students and currently have two ensembles, Horry County Youth
Strings and Horry County Youth Winds. They have rehearsals every
Sunday and present a public concert in December and May each year.
This year, they will offer three levels of summer orchestra camps:
Beginning orchestra Camp for raising 6th graders; Intermediate
Orchestra Camp for students who have played their instruments more
than one year; and Advanced Orchestra Camp for rising high school
students (9th-12th graders) and students who have played their
instruments for 3+ years. An All-Camp Orchestra Concert will be held
on the final evening of camp, Friday, July 27, at 6:30 pm, in the
Music and Arts Center at Myrtle Beach High School.
This free concert will be open to the public.
