Bruce Munro at Brookgreen:  Southern Light

April 8, 2020 – September 12, 2020
Wednesdays – Saturdays

Join us at Brookgreen in 2020 for an immersive experience in art and light.

Internationally known artist, Bruce Munro, will bring his spectacular large-scale light sculptures to the gardens, allowing visitors to literally see the gardens in a new light.

The exhibit will feature seven works of art in light and mixed media, each designed specifically for the natural garden rooms where they will be installed. The illuminated installations will consist of tens of thousands of components.

Bruce MunroAfter his first visit to Brookgreen, Munro said, “My site visit reinforced the notion of a garden being made up from a series of interconnected outside rooms. It also left me with an impression that the ‘garden rooms,’ populated by figurative sculptures, were surrounded by an untamed landscape. It’s a magical place with an edge of the unknown!”

Brookgreen is excited to welcome Bruce Munro and his art to our gardens. This will be the only chance to experience Bruce’s incomparable installations in the Eastern United States in 2020.  Bookmark this webpage to check back for additional information.

The SoundHouse is the work of Tina Smith and James (Jamie) Semmens, an artist specializing in industrial art and design. The design element of the venue has a steam punk feel, with custom floors, bar top and tabletops, as well as art displays,  all designed by Mr. Semmens and executed by both artists. Serving craft ale and wine, as well as soft drinks and coffee for non-drinkers, The SoundHouse is passionate about promoting music and arts culture to all ages.

The SoundHouse prides itself on providing a venue for artists who are creating and producing their own work and aims to bring art culture to a new level, while providing a fun and family-friendly place for audiences to enjoy performance art.

“(We are) acutely aware of the need for artists to have a place to express themselves which is respectful of their work”, says co-owner and songwriter/producer, Tina Smith. “We are extremely excited about our space. Our stage is the center of the universe here.”
