Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art: Peabo Bryson
Oct 1 @ 7:00 pm
Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art: Peabo Bryson @ Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island | Pawleys Island | South Carolina | United States

Peabo Bryson is among the world’s most dynamic and gifted vocal talents. Over the course of a career spanning from the mid-`60s but truly igniting in the `70s, the 2x Grammy winner has amassed a fan base, critical acclaim, gold albums and an avalanche of awards by being one of the truly best friends a good song ever had…many of which he composed himself. From ballads that gracefully continued the legacy of sweet soul music such as “Feel the Fire” and “I’m So Into You” to chart-topping pop hits such as “If Ever You’re in My Arms Again” and “Can You Stop The Rain,” and a plethora of duet collaborations with artists ranging from singers Celine Dion (“Beauty & The Beast”), Regina Belle (“A Whole New World”) to Melissa Manchester (“Lovers After All”), instrumentalists Kenny G (“By The Time This Night is Over”) and Jim Brickman (“My Heart Belongs To You”), Peabo Bryson has proven himself as the consummate vocal professional.

Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art: The Doo Wop Project – Tabled Event
Oct 15 @ 7:00 pm
Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art: The Doo Wop Project - Tabled Event @ Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island | Pawleys Island | South Carolina | United States

Bring your own food and beverages, decorate your table and sit down with friends to enjoy this fabulous show!

The Doo Wop Project begins at the beginning, tracing the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sound of five guys singing tight harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. Throughout the show DWP takes audiences on a journey from foundational tunes of groups like the Crests, Belmonts and Flamingos through their influences on the sounds of Smokey Robinson, the Temptations, and the Four Seasons all the way to Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz and Amy Winehouse. Featuring stars of Broadway’s smash hits Jersey Boys and Motown: The Musical with their hot band, The Doo Wop Project brings unparalleled authenticity of sound and vocal excellence to recreate – and in some cases entirely reimagine – some of the greatest music in American pop and rock history. Your audience will enjoy a night filled with harmonies and classic ‘60s hits such as Randy & The Rainbows’ “Denise”, Thurston Harris’ “Little Bitty Pretty One”, The Skyliners “Since I Don’t Have You”, The Capris’ “Morse Code of Love”, and many more. The show also includes doo-wop-inspired renditions of contemporary songs such as Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie”, Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel”, and Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours”.

Raffle baskets and special gift items! Book baskets, bicycle baskets, Easter baskets, a great trail bike and more will be raffled to raise funds to complete the Waccamaw Neck Bikeway between Trace Drive and Boyle Road in North Litchfield. Bicyclists and pedestrians currently must “share the road” with car traffic, creating a gap in safety as they travel the bike trail. The safety connector will cost $80 per linear foot. Raffle tickets are 3 for $5, 7 for $10, or 15 for $20! Large check donations (payable to Georgetown County with “Bike the Neck” in the memo line) will be gratefully accepted!

Free to look! Fine, folk and functional artwork freshly created for the season will be on display, including new paintings by Terry Belanger, Nancy Bracken, Millie Doud, Barnie Slice and Jane Woodward, surrounded by fabric art by Terry Belanger, Gwen Coley, Millie Doud, Zenobia Harper and Barbara Linderman, creative stained glass by Sharon Knost and Kathy Welde, fused glass by Suz Mole, tactile wood turnings by Roger Cleveland, clay art by Gwen Coley and Lisa Elvington, felted wool hats by Cindy Valentine and irresistible, whimsical folk art by Kathi Bixler.

Free to chat! Artfields Competition and Festival thru April 29
Apr 21 @ 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Artfields Competition and Festival thru April 29 @ Lake City | Lake City | South Carolina | United States
he South’s Most Engaging Art Competition and Festival

ArtFields® started in 2013 with a simple goal: honor the artists of the Southeast with a week’s worth of celebration and competition in the heart of a traditional Southern small town. With over $100,000 up for grabs, awarded based on the input of every visitor to ArtFields and a panel of judges made up of acclaimed artists and educators, the competition offers life-changing amounts of money to all artists in all media who live in the twelve Southeastern states. Over 400 masterpieces will be displayed in locally-owned venues, from renovated warehouses from the 1920’s to Smithsonian-qualified art galleries to upscale restaurants and start-up boutiques, in a mutual celebration of art and community. What was once one of South Carolina’s most prosperous agricultural communities now becomes a living art gallery as we continue to demonstrate the best of the Southeast and recognize the incredible talent we have to offer.

ArtFields® is a charitable program of the Lake City Creative Alliance, a federally-recognized tax-exempt public charity, whose mission is to enhance the area school and greater community through both creative and audience development by fostering a culturally-rich environment, connecting our communities through the arts, integrating arts into the education system, and serving as the lead in cultivating and advancing our region’s creative economy.
