We are bringing back the Art Bash art show. This is a social gathering and a fundraiser to support The Wellness Council for South Carolina and help fund our diabetes education and diabetes prevention workshops in the community. A portion of proceeds from this event will also go to The Roundtable Art Group which hosts art workshops in the community, and Hernandez Foundation which fosters the arts within our youth and mentors, and gives scholarships to deserving young students who are pursuing the arts.
Local artwork will be for sale and artwork donated to The Wellness Council for SC will be available in our silent auction. There will be raffle prizes donated from local businesses and, of course, refreshments will be served.
We hope to see everyone there!
The event will be held on Wednesday, December 14th from 6-9pm at 514 Broadway Street, Myrtle Beach, SC.
We are still looking for sponsors for this event as well as raffle prize donations.
We are a 501(c)3 non profit organization in Georgetown SC. The Winyah is a civic auditorium at 1200 Highmarket Street, formerly the Winyah Georgetown Highschool. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings. We would like to post information about a Jazz Festival to be held at the Auditorium March 18th and 19th. Our performers are elite students and faculty from Coastal Carolina University, University of South Carolina, and the College of Charleston. While the the main level of the auditorium has been renovated (seating 320), the balcony is next on our list to update. This concert is a fundraiser to support bringing the balcony up to code by installing a fire escape as well as refurbishing seating.

Art Works Welcome Spring Reception & Benefit
Celebrate spring on Saturday, March 25, from 2 to 5 p.m., at a drop-in reception at Art Works in the Litchfield Exchange. Launch your spring bike riding season at this fundraiser for Bike the Neck.
Raffle baskets and special gift items! Book baskets, bicycle baskets, Easter baskets, a great trail bike and more will be raffled to raise funds to complete the Waccamaw Neck Bikeway between Trace Drive and Boyle Road in North Litchfield. Bicyclists and pedestrians currently must “share the road” with car traffic, creating a gap in safety as they travel the bike trail. The safety connector will cost $80 per linear foot. Raffle tickets are 3 for $5, 7 for $10, or 15 for $20! Large check donations (payable to Georgetown County with “Bike the Neck” in the memo line) will be gratefully accepted!
Free to look! Fine, folk and functional artwork freshly created for the season will be on display, including new paintings by Terry Belanger, Nancy Bracken, Millie Doud, Barnie Slice and Jane Woodward, surrounded by fabric art by Terry Belanger, Gwen Coley, Millie Doud, Zenobia Harper and Barbara Linderman, creative stained glass by Sharon Knost and Kathy Welde, fused glass by Suz Mole, tactile wood turnings by Roger Cleveland, clay art by Gwen Coley and Lisa Elvington, felted wool hats by Cindy Valentine and irresistible, whimsical folk art by Kathi Bixler.
Free to chat! A dozen local authors and illustrators will be available to sell and sign their new books, including Tanya Ackerman (Pawleys Island: Chasing the Light), Carole Bellacera, Mary Anne Benedetto, Kathi Bixler, Linda Cookingham, Tom and Christine Doran, Millie Doud, Lynda Durrant, Darlene Eichler, Jana Hletko, Anne Malarich and Bob O’Brien.
Free to listen! Bob Ackerman and Pam Purvis, award-winning, international musical duo, will be performing sophisticated, swingin’ soulful jazz from their CD “Two for the Road.” After 41 years performing jazz standards and songs from the Great American Song Book together, their duet presentation for horn and voice is unique and satisfying. “Purvis and Ackerman emanate harmonic style reminiscent of Lester Young and Billie Holiday. Purvis’s voice follows Ackerman’s full-bodied horn with authoritative harmony and absolute charm.” (Jazz Now)
Free to nosh! Wine and cheese, punch and cookies, coffee and chocolates!
Art Works is located in the Litchfield Exchange (14363 Ocean Highway), two miles south of Brookgreen Gardens, behind Applewood House of Pancakes. Open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit ClassAtPawleys.com or call 843.235.9600.

This fundraiser celebrates the life, career and scholarship of Charles “Chaz” Joyner (1935-2016), who served as Burroughs Distinguished Professor of Southern History and Culture at CCU during his tenure of more than three decades. The program features live selections of Joyner’s favorite music, including songs and spirituals performed by CCU alumnus Shirra Ward and folk and jazz arrangements performed by the CCU Jazz Combo. The program also traces highlights of Joyner’s career at CCU and his contribution to Southern studies. Proceeds will benefit scholarships and programming for the Charles Joyner Institute for Gullah and African Diaspora Studies.
