The Dickens Christmas Show & Festivals is a unique national award winning event comprised of a multitude of shopping and entertainment options, for individuals and groups alike. The cornerstone of the event is a Victorian Holiday Marketplace held in the 100,000 sq. ft. exhibit hall of the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
Howard Burnham, a true Shakespearian actor and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in London, shares the tale of Scrooge in a one-man production of Dickens own “A Christmas Carol.” This classic tale highlights the spirit of the holiday and all things good and just.
Here against a Victorian Holiday background, one will find hundreds of period clad vendors hawking everything from jewelry, gifts, toys, arts and crafts, gourmet foods, holiday decor and much much more. There probably is truly something for everyone on your holiday list. But the fun doesn’t stop there. 
Strolling Victorian Musicians, Tea Leaf Readers, Punch & Judy Shows, Shadow Box Displays, a Life Sized Historic Santa through the Ages Exhibit and a real live Santa, each lend their own charm to the show. Plus there are the elaborate Festival displays of Trees, of Tables, of Wrea
ths and the Festival of Worlds that add to the experience too! All displays are available for purchase at silent auction with 100% of the funds going to the sponsoring non profit.
Off-site offerings include Victorian Holiday Teas, Sherlock Holmes Murder Mystery Dinners, Historical Tours and the opening of Holiday Shows at award winning local theaters.

About 25 of our fun and talented artists will set up outdoor booths chock full of fabulous Christmas and Holiday gifts. You’ll find everything from beautiful artisan-crafted jewelry; paintings in oil, watercolor, mixed media and acrylic. Surfboards! And more! The pottery alone is enough for an entire show! Fine, folk and functional artwork freshly created for the season will be on display, including new paintings by Terry Belanger, Nancy Bracken, Millie Doud, Barnie Slice and Jane Woodward, surrounded by fabric art by Terry Belanger, Gwen Coley, Millie Doud, Zenobia Harper and Barbara Linderman, creative stained glass by Sharon Knost and Kathy Welde, fused glass by Suz Mole, tactile wood turnings by Roger Cleveland and Robert Denney, clay art by Gwen Coley, felted wool hats by Cindy Valentine and irresistible, whimsical folk art by Kathi Bixler.

The authors and artists of CLASS Publishing’s four new books for the season will be signing their works: Pawleys Island: Chasing the Light by Tanya Ackerman; Nights of a Thousand Candles and The Trail through The Zoo by Anne Swift Malarich (photographer) and Brookgreen staff and volunteers; Holidogs by Gayle Agee and Millie Doud (illustrator). In addition, local animal book authors will be available to autograph their new books, including Kathi Bixler, Tom and Christine Doran, Nancy Lorraine Edelman, Darlene Eichler, Goffinet McLaren, and Bob O’Brien.

Bob Ackerman and Pam Purvis, award-winning, international musical duo, will be performing sophisticated, swingin’ soulful jazz from their CD “Two for the Road.” After 41 years performing jazz standards and songs from the Great American Song Book together, their duet presentation for horn and voice is unique and satisfying. “Purvis and Ackerman emanate harmonic style reminiscent of Lester Young and Billie Holiday. Purvis’s voice follows Ackerman’s full-bodied horn with authoritative harmony and absolute charm.” (Jazz Now)

Free to pet! Members of the Canine Angels corps of rescue dogs trained as service dogs for disabled veterans and first responders will be attending. In fact, they will be helping sell raffle tickets for the donated gift baskets. A portion of book and art sales will also benefit Canine Angels.

Stardusters Big Band Concert, February 25, Johnson Theatre, CCU campus, 3:00 p.m.
This special performance, free to OLLI members, will conclude the spring giving campaign for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Coastal Carolina University. The Stardusters Big Band is a 17 piece group of musicians (with a vocalist) playing the music of the Big Band era from the 30s, 40s, and 50s.
Art Works Welcome Spring Reception & Benefit
Celebrate spring on Saturday, March 25, from 2 to 5 p.m., at a drop-in reception at Art Works in the Litchfield Exchange. Launch your spring bike riding season at this fundraiser for Bike the Neck.
Raffle baskets and special gift items! Book baskets, bicycle baskets, Easter baskets, a great trail bike and more will be raffled to raise funds to complete the Waccamaw Neck Bikeway between Trace Drive and Boyle Road in North Litchfield. Bicyclists and pedestrians currently must “share the road” with car traffic, creating a gap in safety as they travel the bike trail. The safety connector will cost $80 per linear foot. Raffle tickets are 3 for $5, 7 for $10, or 15 for $20! Large check donations (payable to Georgetown County with “Bike the Neck” in the memo line) will be gratefully accepted!
