And The Winner Is

Lauren Hyatt Reviews “And The Winner Is” at the Swamp Fox Players

And the Winner is…

By: Lauren Hyatt

Most actors dream of the day that they receive that phone call at 5am telling them that they are nominated for an Academy Award. All of their hard work has finally paid off. But what were to happen if the day of the Oscars, you, one of those actors who wants one of those statues so badly, has a heart attack and dies. You must come to accept that there is no limo coming to pick you up, no tuxes, no champagne popping, no fans screaming your name as you walk down the red carpet, and no Academy Award. Tyler Johnes, yes it’s Jones with an H, however refuses to believe that he must stay in this limbo stage. He has to see if he has won his Oscar. He has worked very hard in his new movie.

Mitch Albom, the playwright, has also written one of the most famous books of our time, Tuesday’s With Morrie. Albom has always ventured into the realm of death and seems like he wants to get to the bottom of it or is searching for answers. In, And the Winner is… Albom looks for answers through the main character, Tyler. Tyler wants to know why he is stuck in limbo and not Heaven. He also questions why he cannot go to the Oscars.

Swamp Fox Players have done it again with another great play and please go and support your local theatre as well as local arts. And the Winner is… is playing at the Georgetown Strand Theatre October 21 & 22 at 8pm and October 23 at 2:30pm. You can call the box office at 843-527-2924 to reserve seats.
