Objective
To provide an entertaining and educational experience for guests of all ages to discover interesting facts about dinosaur history and make connections about Lowcountry natural history

Location
Dinosaurs! will be located in the Butterfly Exhibit and the field adjacent.
The limited time exhibit features both outdoor and indoor experiences.

Indoor Component
Dinosaur Dissection Lab— Volunteers will engage youngsters in “dissecting” realistic-looking dinosaur body parts made of non-latex materials. Located in Brookgreen’s Children’s Discovery Room. Families will learn and explore while using this awesome hands-on activity. Children will also enjoy a make-and-take dinosaur craft, along with several stations with an art, nature and history component. The Children’s Discovery Room is currently open 12-4:30 p.m.

Outdoor Component
Animatronic Dinosaurs—The exhibit features 17 lifelike dinosaur animatronics along an outdoor landscaped pathway. As guests pass by each animatronic, a sensor signals various parts—eyes, head, arms, tail—to move.
Paleontologist Excavation Site—Along the trail, there will be a replica of a paleontologist campsite site that showcases how paleontologists uncover dinosaur specimens, and gives children the chance to uncover “fossils” on their own.
Colorful Graphics—Signage introduces guests to each of the animatronics that represent the inhabitants from a time gone by, from the Late Jurassic Period when the Stegosaurus roamed North America 150 million years ago to the Late Cretaceous Period of 85-75 million years ago when the Pteranodon wandered the earth.

HOURS

Open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  During Nights of a Thousand Candles, the Gardens are only open from 3:00 p.m.  – 10:00 p.m. Regular general admission tickets are not valid for these days. Nov. 30, Dec 1-2; Dec 7-9; Dec 14-17.
Closed Christmas Day

This is exhibit of southeastern wildflowers by sculptor Trailer McQuilkin is on display in the Bleifeld Gallery.These beautifully detailed sculptures are made from sheet copper, copper wire, metal primer, oil paints and natural materials and each takes two to five months to complete.
This exhibit is included in garden admission and is free for members.

Learning Lab I at the Wall Lowcountry Center

“Come Ya, Bin Ya”, an art exhibit that expresses the experience and lifestyle of Gullah culture and cultures of the African Diaspora, will be displayed at Learning Lab I of the Wall Lowcountry Center from 12-4:30 p.m., daily from January 15 through March 18. The works of Gullah, African Diaspora Artists, a group of Lowcountry artists, and others display mediums that include paintings of collage, oils, and watercolor; textiles, batik; sculptures; sweetgrass basketry; carving; photography; and printmaking.

“Our objective is to give viewers a historical and modern look at the Gullah, and Diaspora cultures through the arts,” said GADA Chair Diane Britton Dunham of Beaufort, SC. Other featured artists are: Arianne King Comer, James St Clair, James Denmark, Susan Madison, Rev. Kenneth Hodges, Mary Dawson, Brenda Singleton, Hank Herring, Jery Taylor, Al Davis, and Natalie Daise. 

Free for members and included with garden admission for non-members.

Exhibit artists will present “CELEBRATE! Gullah Geechee Art and More,” a lecture/demonstration about their displayed art, on February 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., in the Wall Lowcountry Center Auditorium. The Black History Month event is free with garden admission. To reserve seating, call 843-235-6049.
