30th Anniversary Juried Show Exhibit
Since opening in 1988, the South Carolina State Museum has been dedicated to the exhibition, collection, preservation and documentation of South Carolina’s visual artists, past and present, through a variety of exhibitions and programs.
This year marks the museum’s 30th anniversary, and to celebrate the diversity of South Carolina art, we will host a juried exhibition. Artists from across the state will have the opportunity to exhibit their work at the State Museum in Columbia, and to win cash prizes up to $1,500.
Must include up to 3 hi-res images of available work produced, a checklist with information about each piece, a brief statement about the submitted work and a short artist bio.
This juried exhibition is open to South Carolina residents who are 18 years of age or older. Individual artists must submit their own work; collectives and collaborative projects may not enter. Each artist may submit up to three works of art for consideration.
Only original works of art that have not previously been exhibited at the South Carolina State Museum will be accepted. Work must have been created by the applicant within the last three years. Original works of art from any medium will be considered, including but not limited to: painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, fiber art, sculpture, jewelry and ceramics. All works of art selected for the exhibition must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.
All two-dimensional works of art must be ready to hang and should not exceed 10 feet high x 12 feet wide (120 x 144 inches). Any work that is not framed should include specific installation guidelines. All three-dimensional artwork may not exceed 75 pounds and 10 feet (120 inches) in height.
The South Carolina State Museum is a family-friendly venue and a destination for school children from across the state. Artists are encouraged to be mindful of our core audience when submitting work for the exhibition.
